It's true that chocolate is not goods for dogs but it would have to be much more than just one piece to harm him...I know you're still gonna watch him like a hawk but please don't get too upset. He'll be just fine
Now you know you've got to keep your purse higher, that's all

yeah - dark chocolate is worse than milk chocolate, and all depends on the size of the dog and how much ingested, but generally the worry comes from dogs being dogs and getting into a box of chocolates or something. Sounds like he'll be fine. And don't beat yourself up - things happen - especially with dogs being dogs - you were very responsible in calling for information

Tracy, it's people like you who are real life angels. Thank you for sharing your life with this wonderful little dog. The name "Lucky" might be appropriate.

I think he deserves a dignified and proud name, since he survived so much. And I think he looks like Winston Churchill, so will suggest "Winston" for his name!

Oops! Posted my name suggestion without reading the other two pages! *laugh* Yuuki's a fine name! And if he's getting into your purse to steal food already, it sounds like he's shaping up into a proper dog.

Yuuki is a fine name and I'm sure he will wear it proudly! Don't beat yourself up about the chocolate! It happens to all of us with these little inquisitive dogs. Their little noses get into everything.

Thanks to all my OB friends here for the comforting words
Turns out he hasn't showed any signs of toxicity. The vet at the ASPCA poison control said he's safe from the central nervous effects by now but may still get diarrhea later with in a 24 hour period. I think I called them about 6 times yesterday and they're probably sick of my voice.
I always enjoy watching Sue's videos of Samantha and the other pooch so just thought I'd post these here.
I can't figure out how to embed these videos so here are links.

Thanks for sharing those! He's adorable and seems to be very well adjusted already...that's a sign that you are doing a great job!
