Good for you. SO happy he found a great home. I got my first-ever rescue four years ago, after growing up with Shelties my whole life and only having had pure-bred dogs. Never looked back: Morris, a beagle/Jack Russell/Springer spaniel mix, is the smartest pooch I've ever had, and definitely the most loving. To all you potential dog owners out there: PLEASE first consider saving a life.

Mr. Pickles was raised by his previous owner since he was a puppy. He said the dog is a year and a half old. So I really thought that this dog would come to me all fearful, uncontrollable and angry or sad. It's the opposite! He is so affectionate, friendly, sociable, happy, enthusiastic and as I mentioned before, fairly obedient.
Even after all he's been through, his spirit is not broken. He is so brave and courageous to endure what he did for so long. So I did lots of searching on the internet and found this:
Courage - Others - Japanese Kanji Images
The Japanese pronounciation is much easier to say for people who don't speak Japanese or Chinese so I decided to call him Yuuki. I hope he can leave behind his old "Mr. Pickles" life and realize he is now, my Yuuki.

well you found his name ....kanji but your choice is better since you figured it out Yuuki is a great name

Bravo for you to have that wonderful little guy to love & trust you!..My little pug is a rescue pug...she came from a puppy mill down south...she is so happy (for 2 yrs now) to live like the wonderful creature she is. Adopted pets are extra special; I think their experiences give them a bigger capacity to love!

I am an irresponsible pet parent Yuuki dug into my purse while I was not looking and found the dark chocolate truffle I stuck in there last night. The waitress gave us a very bitter, but good, piece of truffle after the meal but I was too full to finish it. It is at least 60% cocoa. I wrapped it up, stuck it in my purse and forgot about it. I was always told chocolate is toxic for dogs so I called the ASPCA poison control line and paid $65 today for a consultation with a toxicology vet. They told me what signs and symptoms to look for and to give him a dose of hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting. Well, he has not vomited and still seems fine almost 4 hours later. I'm suppose to just monitor him and take him in if he starts panting heavily and gets hyperactive. Tonight will be a long night of worry for me. I've only had him for a week. If anything happens to him, I'd never forgive myself.
