Bil won't get the chance to swim with the gators. We have had a couple gators show up from time to time. Trappers removed an 8 footer last year. That guy was dumb/smart enough to haul out on a former golf course bank and escaped through some drainage pipes eluding the trapper for weeks. He knew the sound of his truck.
We have a canal behind our home and until he is totally obedience trained he is on leash. Bil's happy playing in the pool since his toys are in there and a nice big bowl..er pool of water. There is so much stuff including broken branches in the canal it would be a hazard for him to swim in it.
I hope your golden gets to swim for a long time, even if he only gets to get wet and hang out when he needs to cool off. I think water is very soothing to some dogs. Maybe a plastic kids swimming pool would be fun for him.
