First of all they are not named for after any tribe. If it offends you I am sorry for you.

Dakota is actually named after my boyfriends SHOW TRUCK... It's a dodge DAKOTA, which he loves dearly and has put on the back burner for two years now because we can't afford it. This was a way for me to remind him that someday we will again get to enjoy it.

And Rylee is just plain cute!

Sorry, I didn't mean to cause any trouble or controversy here. Personally, I am not offended by it, I think they are cute dogs. (and I think it's hilarious to name a dog after a truck). What I should have said is that most Native Americans who wish to preserve their culture would be offended by it.

Dorothy, I am part Arapaho (Southern Arapaho, our tribe shares a reservation with the Cheyenne in Oklahoma). The Dakota views on animals are very similar to the views of other tribes, including the Cheyenne and Arapaho. I was raised Catholic, but I think there's a great deal to be learned from the culture and traditions of our ancestors, and I appreciate you taking the time to learn about it.
