Oh wow!
that's so sweet! they definitely love each other! both are very sweet looking too! thanks for giving these two sweet dogs a home - and each other! |
Awwww, Thanks WhiteRabbit!!!
But We're the LUCKY ONE'S!!! My husband and I tell each other we are soooo blessed to have found these boys, nearly 2 yrs apart!!! |
It looks like Jake is happy, we know you are happy, but most importantly - Max is happy! Saving a pound puppy or Humane Society animal is a true act of kindness and love. That doesn't surprise me at all, Jackie. You're an angel.

Awwwwwww, Thanks Royal!! That's soooo sweet!
You all on the OB are AWESOME Angels in every way :) Oh, and I would NEVER buy an animal, unless it's from a Shelter!! Saving a LIFE!! I never have paid for a pet in my whole entire life, unless paying the shelters!! I've adopted 3 cats, and 3 dogs in my adult life from the local shelters around me. And they ALL were the Best babies!!!! |

Thanks Matt!! I think they are too!! I hope so anyways!! Except for Jakie's problems, I don't want Max to have it!
Shortly after we Adopted and brought Jake home, we noticed him limping, alternating legs. Then weeks later, playing ball, he was now Falling down while running. I was soooo scared so I rushed him in for an x-ray. Thinking it was hip dysplasia. Well it wasn't that, but worse!! Both of his back knee's are shot pretty much! He has Luxating Patellas'. His kneecaps moved totally to the side of his legs when he extends them to walk, run. This happens all day, every day, making him bow legged terribly. We found this out about 4 months ago. We are now ready to do surgery, as that is the only fix. They have to deepen/create the 'Groove' to keep his Patella's in line. He needs both, but we can only do one at a time, so he can walk/hobble. In a few months, we'll be doing the other. We're doing the worst one first. It takes 6-8 weeks of rehab, isolation. No play, running, jumping. Course he couldn't do that much anyways. But he'll be confined into our Master bedroom, by himself for 6-8 weeks :( Breaks my heart. But not as bad as it does to see my baby fall all the time in pain :( It cost a few G's for these surgeries, but HE'S WORTH IT!! Afterall, He is my baby!!! I mean OUR baby!! We don't have children, so these wonderful animals, are our lives!!! His surgery is Dec. 26th. We only chose that date, because I won't be back to work till Jan. 5th. So I can take care of him that first HARD week :( Plz keep my Jakie in your thoughts and prayers for that day, and the months ahead of him!! He's just a puppy, pretty much, but has to live like an 'old dog', cause he can't play like he wants too :( So hopefully, in time, he CAN!!! This link has a picture and describes it. Google Image Result for http://www.geocities.com/cavalierethical/luxationpatella.gif Thank you ALL!!! You guys are the ANGELS!! |

Thanks for your prayers and well wishes on his surgery too!! I will keep you updated on this thread on how it went, and how he is through it. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart!! Hi everone,
I just wanted to give an update on our boy Jake, with his Luxating Patella surgery he had on 12/26/08. It went well, they put the grove into his bone, so that his kneecap stays in place. And pinned all the parts that need to stay put. He's home getting babied like crazy from us. Because he has to be. He needs to be isolated for 6-8 weeks from the other dogs. No running, jumping, playing at all for that time. Only put on a leash to go potty. Each week, it'll get better, that he can walk on a leash for 5 mins the after 2 weeks, then 10, then more... It's been so hard to keep him away from his best friend Max :( We have him baby gated in our bedroom a lot, just for his safety of not huring that surgery. Right now he has a 'lamp shade' on because his stitches are still in. They are supposed to come out on Jan. 5th, we hope if he's healed enough. I just PRAY TO GOD that the surgery worked, and that my baby boy can walk 'normal' and play!! At least he'll have one good leg. As when his right leg, the one that just operated on is healed well, he'll be back in to the surgeons. His left leg is doing the same thing. So he'll have the repeated surgery over there, as soon as his right leg is 100%. Then he'll be 100%!! :) I thank you all, who wished him well, and kept him in your thoughts and prayers!! Jakie needs them, believe me!! The first pic is the day we brought him home, the 27th. The next is wrapping him up to go potty, can't get his wrap wet. Oh, and we had to put our own wrap on the top area, his thigh. As it kept falling down and exposing his wound. The next is a close up of his wound, and then his 'lamp shade' :( |
