Camille, I am so sorry to hear of Noel's passing. Know that he was loved and gave you much happiness. Your love and kindness will be returned 3 fold and remember that he will be waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge.

Al, who stills mourns the loss of Reboot last October.
Although another loving animal has come into my life, Reboot will always hold special memories.

Sorry to hear of your loss, Camille!

A friend of mine is very attached to her "piggies" too. She's had a couple of close calls (and one loss) but one thing that has helped her is that she keeps very close tabs on their weight. She weighs them at least a couple times/week. From what she's told me, weight loss is generally one of the earliest indicators of health issues -- and we're talking even a loss of a few grams.

I don't know if you will chose at some point to adopt another 'pigglet', but if you do, here's a forum (you might already know about but just in case you don't) that the friend of mine found to be very helpful:

The Cavy Compendium

Sorry for your loss, Camille! It is perfectly understandable that you feel bad for now, but have in mind that the best moments you had together will live forever! The shared moments you had, filled with strong feelings, is exactly the kind of thing time will never fade. Decades will come and pass by and you will always remember, and always with great joy, how sweet were all those moments you had together. This is the biggest present Noel could have ever given to you. Look at this through his eyes and you will see!

Camille, I'm so sorry to hear about Noel! Pets really can wriggle their way into our hearts in no time! The loss of a companion like that is always difficult. As other's have said, no one will ever be able to take his place, however, when the right time comes, another animal will come into your life and into your heart.
