I didn't realize the Mal is more common than the Terv in the U.S.A.
I have a friend in CA which owns a Malinois. One day, a police car stopped next to her and asked her about her dog. They where quite shocked and asked: 'and he is a pet dog?'
She told me that it's quit rare that people recognize a Malinois in him, also with him most people think that he is kind of GSD cross. Most kids think he is a coyote LOL
Where I live the Mal is pretty common, Terv are a rare sight just as the Groenedael. Also the Laekenois is pretty rare here, despite I live very close to the Belgian border.
I have to say that most of the Mal's are not pedigreed but bred out of working KNPV stock. Most of them tend to be larger, for instance my female has the height of a pedigreed male, also the weight is from a pedigreed male... our working lines have huge ears compaired to the showdogs heh.
Talk about temperament is these dogs
Anyway, back to your beautiful Beckham :-) I can't wait to see him wearing his adult coat, he must be so pretty then! Great to hear he is very sociable and out going.
How does he get along with the tiny Yorkie? Doesn't he play to rough with the smaller pack member? When my Boerenfox joined us, only weighing 4 lbs., I had to learn the 5 year old Malinois to play gently with the tiny one. With an adult dog that will be much easier than with a 5 month old!
