Default Mr. Squirrel

This little guy frequently visits our bird feeder. As you can see, the birds don't stand a chance.

I keep the squirrels out of the bird feeders with a squirrel guard - it's a dome of plastic that is placed on the feeder's pole. I found the squirrels would ransack the feeders and even begin to chew on them .. now the squirrels get the seeds that fall to the ground which hasn't stopped them from remaining little fat balls of fur ..

I really don't mind them sampling the bird food. They're fun to watch and they love to tease my short legged Corgis. We inadvertantly cut down their population when we had our Palm trees trimmed last year. They no longer have a place to nest on my property. Before the trim they were everwhere and buried their nuts all over the yard and in my orchids. They would sometimes come right inside the screened porch.

How cute!!! I love squirrels and don't prevent them from eating in my feeders either. I get a kick out of watching their antics! Thanks for sharing these pictures.

Wink Screwy Squirrels

Everyone having problems with squirrels has been a problem for me they eat my tulip bulb and break limbs of my small trees I have tried to discourage them but nothing works..... So now since I can't get rid of them I will keep them busy. Found this corn cob feeder at Wal-mart just what I needed. Now I sit and watch the fun. I set it up really close to the railroad tie but that was to easy for them. Today I raised it about a foot above the railroad tie and sat back and all afternoon. They are so busy trying to get that corn nothing else interest them.

Check out the

I personally don't mind them as long as they don't munch on my plants. My b/f however, does not like them getting into his bird feeder at all! He has this feeder that has a weight limit on it so when a bird lands on the perch area it can eat, but when a squirrel comes along and gets on the perch it closes up the holes in the feeder. They are funny to watch because they get all confused since the holes were just opened! Hahahaha... They have found other sneaky ways to get at it though and always eat the stray food on the ground too. They can be very entertaining.
