did someone lose their petakeet? poor birdy got away from his cage and he not going back.



we have quakers, monk parakeet colonies around here but this does not look like one of them.

Looks like macaw. I am not an ornithologist. There are many types of macaw. If you see more of his body, you can identify him better. Red shoulder, yellow collar or some other distinctive signs will lead to better identification.
This bird seems to be in a good shape and he seems young. Lovely curious creature!

macaw. yeah. just cant find one that the bird looks like. if it had red shoulders that would make it easy

No idea what it is but it certainly is a very pretty bird with that rich coloring.

My first business trip to Brazil was in 1981 and I was in one town for 3 weeks. The weekend markets were amazing, with plants, tropical fish, and all kinds of birds for sale for really cheap. I recall seeing parrots about 12"-15" tip-to-tail in solid red and solid emerald green - a pair for $20. Mature blue discus fish were $5 each. Cattleya hybrids - flowering - were $3.

nothing fits exactly. it might be a juvenile and not showing the identity markers. could have been outside a long time , his color is adapting to its surroundings. these birds get picked off fast by hawks and other birds tend to kill them. they don't last long unfortunately alone in the suburbs.
