if could only get this efforted laziness to be used to help me????
this is Luella, that is not her only name, she is also Shanda Crimes, Floor Turkey and several more....she may or may not have a food blog.
she's geriatric in dog age but she wont tell you that. she's still the far and clear alpha in the dog pack and she is very good at making her yard friends "get real quiet"
she has this skill/habit of finding the spots where shade and sand meet and digging down enough to get cool. since all of my yard is sand unless i have worked to prevent that, she has many opportunities to do this
Vanda by J Solo, on Flickr
this was only leant there yesterday and there is a 7" trough.....there one under the avocado, under the swingset...….bet where in the hell is she when i am digging garden beds????? no where to be seen, that's where LOL

Got to watch out for those alpha females!! So cute! I would like to pat her for sure -- after I put on my iron man suit (just in case).

We had a border collie that was “all business”. Friendly to everyone, but definitely a herder (except for the cats that ignored him, frustrating the hell out of him) and his real job, catching the frisbee.
Then my daughter got a miniature long haired dachshund puppy that was determined to join his pack. The BC looked at us, horrified, but when we told him, “Sorry, Nick. He’s staying.”, he sighed and mostly tolerated the pup - if we weren’t watching. He’d growl if we were. The puppy didn’t care. They slept together every night.

herders are a LOT of fun... my old boy (RIP) would herd any and everything...the best was when we weren't paying attention on a long beach walk and suddenly my wife and i would realize we were walking REALLY close to each other...BANJO!!! damnit! stop herding us
he was a corgi/shepherd - all awesome

My Roxie was an Australian cattle dog / miniature Schnauzer cross. She tried to herd all visitors to my house into tight circles.

We had a Shetland Sheepdog-terrier mix when I was a child as well as a pair of pet ducks. When it was time for the ducks to go into their pen, I would just tell my pup to 'round them up' and she would go to it. The ducks and the dog were great friends so the ducks always let the dog herd them without fuss. It was one of the highlights of the dog's life.
