Me too Diane! I'll take some pics and put them into the Cymbidium section once the flowers open. Hoping they'll be as beautiful as what the seller captured!

This could well be a one-off flowering way up north here, as the plant came with buds, and fortunately some of the buds survived the shipping and change in conditions.

Apparently - a regular long-term cycle of cool-down (between day and night temperatures) is needed to consistently get flower spikes to form on the regular types of cymbidiums like this. We haven't got these conditions up here! I think your conditions will be workable!!!

Yes conditions here are ideal for Cyms. The judging table at my local club could always be relied upon to have a few Cyms each month.

That's the conditions we need here Diane! Incredibly nice to know that cyms are grown and seen by growers of your orchid club over there.

Up here, I can confirm the observations reported by some cym growers - about standard cym spikes not making it if they get a certain amount of change in the growing conditions - maybe unlike catts and other orchids. The Barrita Princess 'Princess' was in very advanced stages of spike growth (and bud development). Some buds blasted, but fortunately stabilised ----- and the rest pulled through nicely. But another Cym ----- that was like one-third of the way in development for one spike, and maybe one-fifth of the way for another spike ........ both spikes didn't pull through, while the orchid (leaves, bulbs) is doing just fine. But that's ok ----- I just got to take care of these orchids, even if they don't spike naturally here hehehe.

Thanks for letting me know about growers at your club growing --- and even benching those cyms for judging!

In one of the older newsletters I recall a comment about growers in the warmer states would water late in the day to try recreate the cooler overnight temps.
I'll have a look through the newsletters to see if I can find it.[COLOR="Silver"]
