Thanks for your post DC! ginger cat is hilarious. When she was a stray and was all skin and bones, she probably has some memory (maybe) stuck in her mind - so that she'll try to get any bit of food she can these days - even when she's not hungry haha. She constantly monitors the indoors for activity (peering into windows or sitting outside windows) - to make sure that her source of food ---- that's the home occupants - are around.
She knows which windows to peer into, and the best vantage points for looking out for human activity in the home.
And when it's the usual dinner time - it's a case of not needing to look for her --- as she'll come looking for you hahaha.
And even when it's not meal time - she sometimes sits outside the screen door and start doing loud cat meow - sometimes repeatedly (non-stop) for quite long amounts of time. Calling - most likely either for food, or to let her into the house. She's usually not allowed into the house - as she is an outdoor cat. But just sometimes allow her to come into the bath-room/laundry area - where another door prevents her from getting into the rest of the house. Although - there actually had been a couple of slip-ups where the inner door was open - and ginger cat capitalised on the opportunity and broke through!!!!!
But incredibly interestingly - and surprisingly - ginger cat knows that she is not meant to be in main house region. And she won't scramble and keep evading capture (won't become hostile or evading) when I have to go to get her ----- after she has broken the lines hehehe. She has a good temperament.
Another very interesting thing is ----- I sometimes give her tours inside the house - by picking her up with then hands under her arm-pits, so that her head just faces forward (so that she can get a good view while her body just dangles vertically). And I walk her all around the living room. When I do this, ginger cat becomes surprisingly totally relaxed and calm, and she just becomes like a memory storing machine ----- as she looks around and makes mental notes on everything! Totally relaxed state. She loves that kind of thing, which surprises myself as well.
I think she absorbs all the details of the indoor area - so that she knows where to head for ----- for her next (but rare) break-in hehehe.
I think ginger cat was taught well by her previous owner, or even she has her own nice personality (or the cat equivalent of 'personality').

The first two pics are captured this morning ----- ginger cat at the site of my cannabinus 'plantation' hehehe
Hibiscus cannabinus flower is seen the last pic - captured in the past. The leaves of this hibiscus plant are actually very tastey - and genuinely good to eat.

Just as I started reading your post, my Lola jumped up to the computer screen as if to draw my attention back to her. She approves of her "penpal" and probably would crave some outdoor fun as well. But that is never allowed to happen-indoor 24/7. BTW, that hibiscus looks quite interesting.

DeaC ----- a genuine privilege for gingercat to have this great penpal!!!!!
I'll will upload a couple of pics for you and gingercat's penpal! These were taken recently - soon after some rain, where I had to just put gingercat's cardboard box somewhere to dry out. But gingercat found it!!!

This morning - found a tortoise next to the back door. Not sure how it got there. Maybe got there just by itself.
I put it back in the river - unscathed - after a few quick pics. Swam off pretty quickly heheh.
