Russian Blue (half?)... so very quiet, gentle, loving, loyal and shy. Amazingly smart too, it's kind of scary. Always looks you right in the eyes, and can get you to follow her around - will lead you directly to her food bowl when she's hungry!

Cats are scary smart. . .and super communicative. They don't have any trouble making themselves understood.

Beautiful! I think my mom has one of these, or maybe it is a British Blue she has, I can't keep up with what the difference is....anyways...they are very beautiful, and like you said very smart....they are so smart that if you gave them the chance, they would "paw" paint. They are very sweet and loving!

She's beautiful!! My cat will lead me around the house too, running in front and looking over his shoulder to make sure I'm still following him - us stupid humans don't always get it right, you know!! After twelve years, he's gotten me pretty well trained now.

I disagree with that part of making themselves understood....I can't figure out why my cats are peeing on everything in side the house! They used to never do it before (they are both 9 and fixed) and all of a sudden since last December, they are marking their territory! I understand this part, buy why in the house were it is only them, I can understand them doing it outside...but inside?

Becca, to say something has upset your cats is rather redundant. But, something is making them feel the need to stake their claim. Anything different? Has something changed?

I have my husband's grandmother's cat. We've had her for 3 years now. She has always been perfectly toilet trained......until recently.

Her mama, who she hasn't seen in 3 years, passed away in December and now she's making 'mistakes' in the house.

This is even though she has free rein to go outdoors! She's healthy but getting elderly at 16 years old.

What to do? I can't kill my husbands grandmother's baby!!!!

Razka, She looks like a lovely cat. Over many years, we've had three Russian Blues, Nikki, Natasha, and Nikita, and they all had such wonderful dispositions. They have been all gray, no white, so I guess that's what you mean by "half." There are no breeders anywhere in our locale now unfortunately so we have two domestic shorthairs -- can't be without a cat!

Becca, We had such a problem with one cat and it began when we did some remodelling on the house. He had to be on tranquillizers for some months which made me very unhappy but it did cure the problem.

Tranquillizers I've actually tried prozac already for two months...my kitty wasn't my kitty....now she is off of it and she is back to being lovey and the unappropriate elimination problems hasn't stopped but it is better. Remodeling you say????

Yeah, they aren't considered pure russian blue unless they are all gray. Makes me think she is half - I'm not sure though, I got her from a hurricane rescue group, hurricane Isabel of course...

I would love to get a pure russian blue though! I wouldn't even know where to look - there really isn't much information online about them at all.
