Here is an example. Say you have a 200 mg caffeine tablet dissolved in a liter of water. That is 200 mg per liter. Per the table, multiply by 0.0001 and it gives you 0.02%. If you decide you need a liter of 1% solution, you need to use 50 of those tablets per liter.

It would probably not be economical to use espresso to get that 1% solution. A 200 mg tablet is equal to 2 cups coffee (I looked online for a package label). So, you are up to 100 cups coffee to get the same caffeine. I am making the simplifying assumption that one 250 mL cup of coffee has the same caffeine as a smaller but stronger espresso.

The one and only time I had snails in newly acquired plants(masdies or bulbos) I poured a strong solution of cooled coffee thru the pot. Success. Saved the rest for me.

So, Ray. Did you basically just dump coffee grounds around the plants? Is this the season for snails to hatch? (I never thought they had a season). Because this morning I found one, and upon soaking the pot in soapy water... babies.

To get rid of my Bush snail infestations, I sprinkled coffee grounds in all the orchid pots as well as on the surface of all my other plants (the grounds filtered right through the lava rock and NZ moss, naturally). I even laid the mounts down and sprinkled them with coffee grounds. This latest infestation was discovered in September (2018), after I had brought the orchids inside. I currently have no bush snails.

For those who are not heavy coffee consumers, coffee shops will often be willing to donate used coffee grounds if one asks.

Good luck!

I think they hatch at any time, as long as temperatures are warm enough.

Thanks, Leafmite. I assumed that but wanted to be 100% sure. It seems like there's always one...
