Can somebody tell me what this is? It appeared on one of my orchids and I don't know if it is good or bad. My orchid is already suffering. It only has one leaf left. I added some photos. I've already cut the affected leaves but this new thing that appeared on the orchid is bugging me and I am getting concerned. I would appreciate it very much if someone could help me.
Somehow the pollinia got knocked off one of the flowers and it attached to the stem.
Most orchids like your Phalaenopsis keep clusters of pollen in a structure called pollinia. The pollinia has a sticky pad on one end and pollen on the other. It sticks to the pollinator with the sticky end, then when the pollinator visits another flower, the pollen brushes up against the stigma and that's where baby orchids come from.
