Are these spider mites?
Default Are these spider mites?

A leaf on a phalaenopsis turned yellow and dropped within a few days. I used a digital microscope and took some photos. Are those spider mites (and are those round things their eggs)?

Also, did anyone have any success with the formula used by MissOrchidGirl to kill the spider mites (a mixture of water, paraffinum liquidum, and dish soap)?

Thank you!

From Google they look to be false spider mites but you do have an infestation, I’m afraid.

I haven't looked at them under a microscope. A solution of 5ml / 1 tsp liquid dish soap in 1 liter / 1 quart of water, used as a spray, is sufficient to kill adults. You can also use 70% alcohol if that is easily available.

This does not kill eggs, so you must repeat spraying at 4-6 day intervals for 3-4 times. Also the mites are probably on all your plants.
