If that is wood, I would buy one of those $5 clear plastic table protectors and put it under the plants to protect the wood (I cut them to size). Plants can be a little unfriendly towards finished wood. :|

They are all in plastic bowls on ceramic coasters with cork bottoms. I anticipated that one!
