Hi,
I was watering my phals this morning and always check them out as I do so. This morning I pulled one out to inspect the roots and found the medium full of these tiny white things all through out the pot. No insects seen or bite marks on leaves and the plant it self looks fine. It's also not on top of the medium. Could these be eggs? So I didn't water it and isolated it right away. None of my other orchids have this. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you
Liz
Thank you for the reply. What do I do with it now? Repot? Will the spores disapait into the air and contaminate my other plants? Should I throw it away because of the amount of spores and risk the spores finding their way to my other orchids?
Unpot the plant and wash its root system with running water to remove as much of the old medium as possible.
Pot it up in fresh medium, and the mold won't have as much food to live on.
You might also start giving your plants regular doses of Inocucor Garden Solution, as the beneficial microorganisms in that will consume those that are pathogens.
Hi Ray,
Thanks for the advice. Where do I get the solution and is it safe to use indoors? I never saw this or had a mold problem before. What caused this in my plant? And why only one out of 80 orchids I have? Also should I repot outside so it don't go airborne into my other plants?
Thanks
Liz
