Fluffy Mold on bark!
Default Fluffy Mold on bark!

Hi guys,

I haven’t posted in a while, seems all was well in orchard camp until now!
I’ve just noticed a white fluffy Mold on my new orchid!! I bought it from Kew Gardens only about 3 months ago.
Can you tell me what it is, what I need to do?

What kind of orchid? If it hasn't been repotted, would not be surprised if the bark had broken down making a wet, unhealthy environment - perfect for mold, not so good for orchids. If you repot and it dries out between waterings, the mold will probably go away. The mold itself isn't harmful, but it is indicative of an an environment that likely IS harmful.

Looks to me like it's working on a dead root. If so, I'd trim that part off.
