Virus?
Default Virus?

Phal amboinenesis bloom gradually developed over about a week depressions and pitting on the rear of the flower. Everything else looks good. Photo is attached.

Thoughts? Virus? Nothing? What should I do?

Thanks!

I agree - critter, not disease.

Rub gently under the leaves with apiece of white cotton embeded in a solution of water+5% alcohol (approx).
Check the cotton color after this procedure.

I agree, the back of the leaf looks suspiciously "dusty" when affected by red spider mite.

Pure rubbing alcohol (I have the 90% one) works well too with no damage to the plants. Kills all critters instantly. I didn't know it worked as low as 5%.

I didn't mentioned but the 5% is for ethilic alcohol. We don't have rubbing alcohol around here.

I call it rubbing alcohol out of habit, from having lived in the US. But you are right, here rubbing alcohol is hard to find and I use pure 70% (not 90 as written earlier) or 96% "denatured alcohol" which I think is ethanol.

In the the US, the common rubbing alcohol is isopropanol.

Thank you all for your help thus far.

Wasn't sure if you meant to rub the leaves or the flowers with alcohol-soaked cotton, but I did both anyway.

Apart from dust on the leaves, nothing appeared on the swabs.

Thoughts? Should I remove the flower?
