If there are pests in your plant, removing the flower won't do anything.
I would apply some systemic pesticide...as I'm in Europe and not familiarized with the brands sold in the US I can't help you much...but someone will! Wait just a little.

In the meanwhile, if you could take closer photos of the flower and leaves it would be really helpful.

Have a Rhynchostylis gigantea near this phal with the following markings on its leaves.

It recently bloomed and developed discoloration on parts of its flowers (brown, looked burned and crisp).

If it’s viral, could it have spread?

In the the US, the common rubbing alcohol is isopropanol.
Well, both isopropanol and ethanol (the most common here) are considered rubbing alcohols. Although chemically different, the applications are the same.
Regarding isopropanol, the resulting byproducts are toxic.

The marks on your Rhynchostylis maybe be caused by Mg or Ca deficiency. Does it show in older, new or all?

The rhynchostylis is a recent acquisition. The newest leaf seems to be minimally affected. All of the rest approximately equally.

Ca deficiency symptoms appear in new leaves while Mg appears first in older/middle age leaves.
