If a mouse or some other critter dies in the house, it can cause flies. Just hang up some fly paper.

One insect that I have in my apartment year round, no matter what the conditions, are silverfish/paperfish. They aren't destructive or dangerous, just really annoying. They've taken over the whole apartment, mostly bathroom and kitchen, and like to fall into things (they are good at walking on vertical or upside down surfaces, but are also very good at falling).

I once didn't check the measuring cup before measuring some rice to cook and when I was eating my rice I was horrified to see 3 very dead silverfish staring up at me.

Now I check every mug, bowl and pan that I take out of the cupboards before using it...

This is giving me a good giggle for the morning. Well that's what we call them. there bigger than a regular fly like twice the size. For what ever reason there the ones that appear in the winter when it warms a bit. They will be gone again end of this week as it is going to get cold.

I haven't come across flies as yet, but earlier I had posted about an insect that was eventually identified by someone here. Anyway, it had a mate, (or friend?) but I hadn't been able to find it. I'd put the one I did find outside, and kept an eye out for bug #2. I did eventually find it, and set it free outside as well
