Phalaenopsis crown rot now?
Default Phalaenopsis crown rot now?

Just checking hydration this afternoon and...

watered the store purchased phal. and the mini below with a 7-10 day interval and thoroughly checking for lightness and dampness with a bambboo skewer.

Any hope for the mini-phal.?

That hurts. I'm afraid it's a goner, Charles.

The roots on the mini all look to be dead. At least the ones I can see.

yeah, this is the worst time of year for crown rot....the changing temps happen so fast they get ahead of our watering routine....this time of year, the evening temps can be very cool, and if there is one speck of moisture in the top of that plant, it will kill the plant! your first plant is gone....

the one at the last two pics seems ok...I don't like those black colored roots tho....the good thing is I see a little fleck of growth on the last pic, right near the root, that could be either a bloom spike or a new root!.....

the lesson for today is: when cool weather hits, change your watering routine! less frequent, and early in the day...so every bit of water has drained off before dark!!

toss that dead one and buy another....or two!
