Lysudamuloa red jewel bulb split, help
Default Lysudamuloa red jewel bulb split, help

My lysudsmuloa red jewl bulb has a large split in the bulb that is turning brown. I suspect excess moisture/ disease.
The humidity in my greenhouse has been around 90+%,
No much can do about the weather.
I have spray it with Physan 20 and put cinnamon powder on the split and placed it infront of a fan.
Any advice on how to save it?

Second bulb is also split but transparent jelly like rubber coming out of it.

The p-bulb with just the split I would worry less about. Maybe a dusting of cinnamon to help dry the split area. The one with the brown soft spot is more worrisome (especially since it's the front bulb). I had success on an Anguloa brivilabris (a beast, by the way) that developed a similar spot. I cut away the soft brown stuff with a single edge razor blade (sharp, single use). In my case, I ended up with a hole that went to the hollow center of the p-bulb. I dusted with cinnamon, sprayed Physan into the hole. After that, when I watered I tried to keep the hole area dry, did occasional followup with Physan. The cuts did dry and not rot further. (The p-bulb did lose its leaf so no worries there) About a year later, I got a beautiful new growth - there was still plenty of energy in that cut p-bulb to support it. The new growth is now maturing, the old p-bulb is starting to wither which is fine... the new one is now well established to continue to grow on its own.

No guarantees that it will work for you... you're working with a smaller area. But it gives you a fighting chance of arresting the rot before it takes the entire growth.

Thank you for your advice, I will try it. I did something similar to a clivia plant that the base root was rotted and it now has comeback with new growth.
