Default couple possible diseases, asking for diagnosis and treatment

Hello,

I have a couple orchids with potential problems. See pics below.

One is a Brassavola Little Stars that has been developing black tips or spots near the tip. I recently had this blackness spread down it's newest leaf and the leaf eventually turned yellow and shed. The black spot near the tip on the leaf on the right is the newest spot to develop (a few days ago). The problem seemed to start about 7 weeks ago, but didn't worry me because the black tips were small and I figured it was normal or just due to their being recently relocated or due to sporadic watering patterns.

The other is Beallara Patricia McCully. Spots started earlier this spring (few months ago), but I thought it might just be sunburn. I moved this and the plant discussed above to my new office building where they are now in indirect light in a northeast window, but now several other of the leaves are affected.

On both plants damaged areas seem dry.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

~ Jon

The Beallara looks like a lot of them look in less-than-perfect combinations of temperature and humidity. These seem to do best with cool to intermediate temperatures and high humidity. The plant may continue to grow and flower but have spots on the leaves.

I wonder whether the Brassavola is getting enough light. It's too light a green. This is a plant that needs much higher light than other Cattleya tribe members. You could probably adapt it to receiving direct morning sun for several hours, but you would need to move it gradually.

The pot looks large for a plant that size, and maybe the roots are staying wet too long. They should be completely dry within a day of watering, or they are susceptible to rot. A lot of people grow these completely bare root, dangling on a wire or string.

Not enough sun plus staying wet too long would make it much more susceptible to rot.
