Are these actual cockroaches?....its not that I disbelieve you, its in Britain we have an insect that gets called 'a cockroach' but infact its a devils coach horse!
All that aside, I believe these creature come out at night?....so get in there with a torch, no better still get someone else in there with a torch and either collect them, or squish them....or better still get more toads,frogs,etc....good food for such.
I think Kew use other reptiles as well as those you have to rid them of a similar problem, as the 'roaches' do a lot of damage to palms and other plants.
