I hate this animal. They eat my orchids.

Sharp, horticultural diatomaceous earth can be a good barrier, as can copper foil ribbons, wrapped around bench legs.

If you cannot set up barriers, iron phosphate baits can be quite effective.

If memory serves me,Ray had a "coffee brew" concoction that he mentioned either on his site or here. I used it on sluggy masdevallias few yrs back and it worked. Perhaps he'll comment again about it. PS...this is poured directly thru the medium BTW.

Beer traps work pretty well too. It takes a while to reduce the population significantly though.

Yes, I collected the dregs from the coffee pot each day in a milk jug, to which I added about 10% rubbing alcohol to keep mold at bay.

Hi Ray
Can I use fresh coffee? We only drink instant coffee. But I have some ground coffee that I can try.

Glad Ray gave you his recipe. I actually used brewed, cold coffee but the strength eludes me. However ,it did the trick.

I'm with Ray on the use of diatomaceous earth. I use it for both slug and also insect control. It's wonderful stuff.
