A phal with tiny black dots on leaves

Hi!
So I'm brand new to forums and orchids so please forgive me if I'm doing something wrong. I recently got into orchids because I bought a mini phal at the store this winter (it was 10 degrees out so the flowers fell off in days, lol). I looked up how to take care of them and it is doing great with lots of leaves and roots being made. This plant is what started a phal addiction. So my problem is I bought a phal who I think has something wrong with it. It has tiny black dots on the underside but these black dots don't go through the leaves. One leaf on the bottom is turning yellow. The whole plant doesn't seem like a bright green but a yellow green but I don't know enough to say if this is normal for it. I tried to post pictures, but I'm not sure if I'm doing this correctly, lol.

Welcome to the Orchid Board! You are getting started the same way many of us got started. You are going to have a lot of fun.

I don't know what is causing the black dots. Are they on the older leaves? When Phals are going to drop leaves they turn yellowish and can develop spots before they fall off.

The photo of the whole plant looks pretty good. Phals develop purplish coloring on the leaves when they get high amounts of light. They don't need so much light to flower. As long as the leaves don't get burned spots it is fine to let them get red like this.

Many people use sphagnum moss for Phals with great success. Others have trouble with it. It is important to let it dry between waterings, and not to get it completely sopping wet when you water. If you do it will take so long to dry out the roots might rot.
