Strange spot on the orchid's leave Female
Default Strange spot on the orchid's leave

Hi guys,
I'm pretty new in the orchid business. I had this phal since a couple of months ago. When it finished blooming, I repoted it last Sunday. However I noticed some a very strange spot on one of the leaves. I'm attaching photos, including of the orchid itself.

Do you know what is wrong with it?

Thanks in advance!

Honestly, I don't really know what it truly is.

If it is a fungal problem, it seems as if the orchid's immune system has it under some sort of control. I don't know where you normally grow this orchid, but maybe keep it in an area with a little bit of air flow. If it gets worse, try using a fungicide. If that still doesn't work, it may be something else.

I'd also check at night to see what's happening. Maybe there are some insects doing damage.

First, Welcome to the Orchid Board!

The plant does look dry. Water it, then let it dry. Don't let it stay dry very long. It will take some weeks to get the leaves fully hydrated again.

The spot could be early sunburn. It could also be tissue collapse from very cold or very warm water getting on the leaf. And I think it could be from spider mites.

Spider mites are very tiny, 8-legged bugs, that feed on the undersides of the leaves. They may leave a silvery web coating on the leaves. Take a piece of paper towel and wipe it along the underside of the leaves. If you see brownish or reddish streaks you have spider mites. You can spray the plant with 70% alcohol or with insecticidal soap to kill the mites. Be sure to get upper and lower leaf surfaces wet. You will have to repeat every 3-5 days for 2-4 treatments, because these treatments do not kill the eggs.
