Getting rid of bush snails?

I don't know how I will ever be rid of snails. I grow my plants indoors, do I want to sprinkle Sevin in my indoor grow area?
I have mixed diatomaceous earth with water and sprayed it on the plant, forming a light coating when it dries. Still have snails.
I have also tried the drowning method and picked a few off that way, but still have them.
I also completely submerged a potted Cattleya in 3% hydrogen peroxide. Dozens of little snails floated to the surface as the peroxide bubbled away. After about 4 minutes, I drained the peroxide and rinsed thoroughly with water. A couple of weeks later, I saw a snail on that same plant. Roots did become a little shrively, but the green tips did not die, and they are now actively growing again. I have a feeling the peroxide causes them to release their grip and pull into their shells, so they float to the surface. But if they pull in fast enough, it appears they can survive, if not washed out of the pot when dislodged.

In France we use various techniques to attract snails.

• Beer in a container. The yeast inside works wonders and they'll rush to drink
• A slice of fresh potato will also bait them
• Humid cardboard. They seek humidity at night and hide under

I guess if you remove enough of them daily, you can effectively keep their population under control in the long term. Not sure how to cook bush snails though.

Bush snails are the worst because the usual baits don't work for them. The next time I see any, I'm going to try the coffee approach - lots of people have reported success with it. Fortunately, my encounters with them have been fairly minor.

48 hour drowning, repotting + washing, and malathion have been effective enough for me to eradicate them in a medium sized collection.

I found that the concentrations of carbaryl (sevin) available at the store only sickens the snails, and does not kill them, but just a 1/2 tablespoon of concentrated malathion per gallon of water kills them instantly.

The best treatment I’ve found is Mesurol, a restricted pesticide. I thoroughly watered the orchids on a warm day, then sprayed the tops of all containers in the evening with the Mesurol. When the little monsters came out of the pots at night to feed, they passed over the dried pesticide residue and were killed. I think I did this twice, some weeks apart to catch any that were still within the pots as well as any eggs that hatched. I haven’t seen one since. Mesurol is a carbamate insecticide and so is Sevin, so it makes sense that it would also work to kill the little buggers. If you handle Sevin according to the package directions, you should be OK. It has low mammalian toxicity and if you try my method above, you’ll use very little of the chemical as opposed to drenching everything. Good luck!

Good to know about Malathion killing them.
Bush snails are not attracted to the usual baits, unfortunately. The faster you get rid of them, the less damage they will do.

I HATE Bush snails. Fortunately, coffee easily and quickly kills them.

The Sevin powder I used (many years ago) was probably what we mixed with water to spray on our fruit trees when we got Japanese Beetles (the malathion didn't seem to work with Japanese Beetles). It could have been a higher concentration.
