Now my Phal NOID is loosing leaves
Hi all,
I don't know why I have so much trouble with NOID Phals. Anyway, look at the attached pic. This NOID was repoted in September into S/H. I was happy, it was growing roots, growing a new leaf and then I discovered a new spike last week. Then all of a sudden 4 basal leaves turned yellow in just a few days.
I'm thinking, could this be cold damage? The room the Phal is in can get very cold at night, low 40's possibly depending on the overnight lows. Thanks for any insights.

I have found that the NoID Phals can take the upper forties but the lower forties will cause them to suffer. If you move it to somewhere warmer, it will likely recover if no infection gets it--and spike!

If you watered the leaves when the room was that cold, that could be a problem.

That's too cold for a phal, being it a NoID or not.

Ok, so the concensus is that it was the cold that damaged the plant. I will try to keep the temps higher. The plants never get watered that late at night because I'm not around at night.
Also the roots look good through the S/H container, nice new roots digging into the S/H, non are trying to "escape" as they say. Perhaps I was a little overzealous with the night time temp drops. I'll have to close the window when I leave.

Nah, who could climb up so high? Besides things are pretty good around here now in days, at least at my height. Thieves are not yet desperate enough to steal climbing gear.
