Broken leaf on Paphiopedilum Male
Default Broken leaf on Paphiopedilum

Hi everyone,

My new Paphiopedilum orchid had a broken leaf when I bought it a few days ago. I had asked the seller if I should cut it where it had snapped and he said to leave it.

This is how the broken leaf looks like now. Should I leave it or cut it or use some kind of preventative fungicide on it or any other advice on what I need to do or not do?

Thanks,
Andrew

I would just leave it. That leaf could live and continue contributing to the plant for years. No fungicide should be necessary. It is worth watching closely for a while though. If there is any sign of dark or mushy tissue spreading from there, off it comes, then treat the cut with cinnamon.
