I have a NOID phal who just grew me a spike with 15 flowers. I noticed the new leaf it's growing is malformed. I know it can happen from dehydration and so, I am mostly wondering if you guys think it can get better? It's growing inverted towards the wrong side and is a bit wavy. Roots are alright. I put it in water culture after I noticed the leaf.
It's difficult to know what caused that.
But I'm almost sure that The deformation is a testemony of something that happened in the past and, hopefully, it's solved. It seems the plant is recovered but I'm affraid the deformation won't go away. Because the leaf is still very young, maybe it won't look so bad when its grow has finished.
Did you get it from Blomsterlandet, Plantagen or ICA or something?
It's most likely greenhouse conditioned to get maximum growth and many flowers, might also be hormone treated for even faster results (fairly common for flowers intended to be thrown away after blooming = the cheap NOID phals sold at grocery stores etc).
TLDR: the plant is likely in shock from transferring from optimum growing conditions (+ possible boosters) to shop and then to display in "normal" conditions.
Many of my noids have done this, especially those with big and/or many flowers.
Yeah most likely something since before I got it, cant remember from where but most likely from one of the ones mentioned by Trollyxa. As I mentioned it produced a 15 bud spike that impressed me but yep this is the first leaf it has grown here.
