I too was worried it could be due to spider mites. The problem is that my two minis I bought have been in quarantine since I got them and they haven't been anywhere near the orchid that is currently affected by the spider mites or any of the other orchids for that matter.

Since I couldn't see any apparent bug activity on the plant my second thought was some sort of systemic infection...I'm currently working out getting a digital "microscope" so I can better see what is going on but money ATM is a bit tight.

Nevertheless, she (the mini) seems to be doing okay I still have her bare root as I seem to kill any mini I put into bark from sphagnum moss... I just hope I get my other orchid over this spider mite infestation.
