Default Fusarium cattleya

Hello,
Can anyone please tell me if there are any occasions when a cattleya rhizome might have a ring around the outside, when cut, that is not due to fusarium wilt.
My cattleya has a dark ring but it is not purple or red.
Thank you.

Default photo.

Here is the photo.
The ring is brown, really not red or purple.

What does the rest of the plant look like? Look on the web for photos of fusarium. St. Augustine Orchid Society will have some. If the rest of the plant shows that kind of damage, then fusarium is more likely.

I have looked long and hard at that site and it mentions red/purple rings.
I must say that I never looked closely at my rhizomes until I heard of fusarium.
My question is, are there any other occasions when a cattleya could have these rings but not red/purple?
Might different types of cattleyas have different interiors? Does it always mean disease?

I don't know the answer to your question about the rings. Is the plant sick? What does it look like? If it is growing well and appears healthy, I would just use good sanitary care methods and let it grow. Use the same safe handling practices to prevent virus from spreading and maybe keep it further away from other plants.

Hopefully someone else with more knowledge on this can weigh in.

When I mention looking at http:// http://staugorchidsociety.or...s-diseases.htm for pictures of damage, I was not referring to the ring (sorry if I was unclear). I mean the obvious signs of dehydration that go with fusarium. Does your plant show that damage? If it does, I would treat with a fungicide, like Cleary's, or another that is recommended for that disease (see recommendations at the above web page).

Thank you both for your replies.
The plant shows no sign of dehydration and is otherwise a healthy plant and flowered recently.
Of course I find that if I look hard enough at any orchid I find some blemishes on leaves that cannot be explained.
I will get some of the cleary's fungicide and drench the roots just to be on the safe side. However if this is the fusarium ring then the fungicide may do no good as advice says to keep cutting until no ring is detected and then drench. However, I do not want to cut my plant up if this is not the fusarium ring.
