I have trouble taking pictures, you can take video too. I need to learn. The great thing about it, you get a new plant you can look it over. Or check to make sure the mites are gone.

I tried several apps but it's impossible to get a good quality image due to hand shake. The zoom needed it's too high.
Any good app you know? Free one, obviously...

I wrote to the seller to ask whether they also work with Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.

I'd get at 500x or higher. 200x might be harder to see mites.

Done!
Gave it a shower in the tub, sprayed it carefully with the above-mentioned solution, waited 10 min, sprayed again and watered to remove the excess mix from the medium.
Now I'll wait hoping the plant can handle the treatment.

Sorry I guess one more reason not to upgrade to Win 10. Maybe they will have some new ones out that are compatible.

Hi all.
I have had few kinds of mites in recent years. I do NOT think ANY of the above suggestions will work.
Not even Imidacloprids and surly not Neem or any
kind of water spray or alcohol. They will usually come back !!!!!!
However I suggest you to use Abamectin (Avid) which is known to be a proven solution and is not such a strong stuff.

Mites will always come back to our orchids, because they are in the environment outside our homes. It is not possible to get rid of them once and for all. The above methods work well to control them. The gardener has to be vigilant.
Mites have short generation times, so they develop resistance to pesticides faster than other arthropods. Literature on commercial miticides specifies they should be used in rotation to reduce resistance emergence. Home growers rarely rotate pesticides.
Because I know I can never be free of spider mites, I use the least toxic effective methods for controlling them. This includes alcohol or insecticidal soap sprays.
Predatory mites are available. The predators are very hungry, and very efficient. The average small grower will not have enough harmful mites to sustain a permanent population of predatory mites. Moreover, pesticides will kill predatory mites, and the majority of our plants have been treated with pesticides before they arrived in our collections.
I have controlled mealybugs, scale and spider mites that arrived in my collection over the past year. I used alcohol, soap, water, a spray bottle and a bucket. I would have used more toxic pesticide had I needed to. I didn't.
