Newb here. I have a phalaneopsis I purchased from target to make my apartment look nice back in September. Last flower fell off a few months ago and I was about to throw it out but decided to keep it. I researched some and found out that a bulb that was growing is a keiki.
Very happy and decided to take care of the plant ( first time doing this but wanted to see if I have a green thumb) and all was well until a few days ago the leaves started to turn yellow, I noticed today that one of the stems is yellow at the top and the keiki is turning yellow also! Help!
I am not sure what's wrong, I don't think it's crown rot, water is fine... I am not sure. Help please I would like to save it!
Much appreciated from a guy with no idea what he's doing!
Welcome, JAG01010! Soon, you will be an orchid expert.
Sometimes old leaves just turn yellow and fall off. However, for most orchid beginners, it is caused by overwatering, leading to root rotting, leading to the plant not being able to take up enough water.
There is a thread here devoted to teaching beginners (and older growers too, ha ha) how to keep from killing Phals. Here it is:
