Phalaenopsis unhealthy spotted roots
Default Phalaenopsis unhealthy spotted roots

Hello all,
I have recently inherited a phal and am totally new to the world of orchids. The roots look very unhealthy (spotted, various colors and textures) to me. Can anyone advise as to what might be the problem and how can I solve it (if I can)? This is a 2 spike phal, potted in a bark medium in a clear pot.

Photos are here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/d7qztplz68...81%29.jpg?dl=0

Thank you!
Tricia

Looks healthy to me, just pot it up with large barks, and it will continue to grow.

So the spotted roots and brown, mushy root parts are ok? I was comparing to what I could find online and they just didn't look as nice.

Thanks for your input!

Remove the mushy root, the grene healthy root will continue to grow and support the plant. I can see that you still have many green healthy roots. It will survive. Just potted up in large barks and make sure the roots dry before you give u another drinks. I recommend using clear plastic pot so you can keep an eye on the root and keep you from over watering it.

One small part of one root is dead, the dark brown in the upper left. The rest of the roots look good.
