It didn't come directly from CdlO. It was either in PP's greenhouse space or his home growing space, whatever that is - thus the reference to it being a probable hothouse flower.
Plants have to be tough to make it with me. We get very hot in Indian summer, very cold (for California Bay Area) in winter, this year we are likely pushing 80" of rain in my backyard, and I don't use shadecloth except for those couple weeks in summer.
The difference in conditions might make the plant put more energy into survival and less into a long, luxurious flower spike.
