Little bumps on my Paphiopedilum and Phalaenopsis Male
Default Little bumps on my Paphiopedilum and Phalaenopsis

Hello orchid friends! So two my orchids have little bumps on them. Each plants has different bumps. My phal has a few little yellow bumps on one leaf. It looks like sun burn to me but they are slightly raised. I never seen this before. Then my paph has little tiny bumps over its leaves. Some leaves are worst the others. The are very small and can hardly see unless you are up close. There not discolored or anything just small bump. I inspected them with a magnifier and tried to compare pics online but can seem to find any to match. I took pics with my phone and a magnifying glass in front of it so you can see up close. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. The first pic I'm posting is phal and the second is paph.

Hi! You just need to post a few more times to be able to post pictures- I think it's 5 total. I guess you could just post four more times on here and then post the pictures:-)

Hopefully someone more experienced than I am will answer you The second one looks like it could be mechanical damage, I don't know about the first... almost looks like little blisters.

Welcome to Orchid Board

I haven't seen anything like that before. In the pictures it looks similar and yet they are different orchids completely. Do they sit near each other? Did they get sprayed with something accidentally? Like a cleaning spray or anything you can think of.

I guess keep an eye on them and hopefully nothing will get worse on the leaves with it on.

Maybe someone else will be able to offer something more helpful.

Nope they are on complete opposite sides of the room... I'm pretty good with my orchids. I've been caring for orchids for a few years and just never seen it before. I really think the first pic us sun burn. I just never seen it slightly raised before. I misted my phal on day and forgot to drop my sheer curtin. It happened around then so I think that's what happened. It just looked different so had me a little worried. As for the paph I got it recently and honestly didn't even noticed it till I had it in good light. Those pics are through a magnify glass so there enlarged. Don't know what that is. I was on another orchid board but there wasn't a lot of activity.

Welcome to OB. I see you're also with DCOS as am I. We should meet up at the next mtg. I'm one of the trustees and know we've gotten some new members so great to have you. Your plants can come with you and someone can help with questions or such if needed.

I think so long as you watch them and nothing spreads it should be OK, I've never seen sunburn look like that but if it was water droplets, it probably could. And with the Paph, who knows what happened before you got it! Hope it grows normal from here on.
