Yellowing leaf on newest pbulb of Encyclia mariae
Not sure if I got water on it or what but this leaf has yellowed quickly over the last couple of days. It has black around the base of the leaf that doesn't seem to be affecting the leaf next to it and it isn't soft/mushy. I've pulled gently on the leaf and it appears to be firmly attached. Hoping it's nothing serious as this pbulb has just begun sending out a new growth at the base and I'd hate to lose it.. any/all help and advice greatly appreciated

I'm wondering if some water was trapped at the base, and weather was cool and/or damp, as that area is black

What WhiteRabbit said. Can you treat that area with a bit of rubbing alcohol or peroxide? So long as it doesn't spread, it shouldn't hurt the new growth or slow it down. Mine is putting out new growths too.

I have both on hand, is one better or are they pretty much the same? I'll also be keeping a very close eye on it. Thanks so much for the responses <3

I would choose the rubbing alcohol because it might evaporate better. good luck.

Hi,
have you given your mariae a winter rest? Sometimes these will drop the foliage on the older pbs if kept too moist during their rest period (I've experienced this myself), I even heard from some people they can "grow themselves to exhaustion" if not properly rested through winter.
