Dark spots on Cattleya Female
Default Dark spots on Cattleya

Hi all, I had mites a few weeks back and thoroughly sprayed all of my plants with insecticidal soap and it seems to have taken care of the problem. However there is one cattleya that I'm still worried about, it has dark blotches and the new growth seems to have them as well. Could it still be mites or something else? I wiped the spots with a paper towel and it didn't have orange streaks like the other ones before, but some tiny little dots did show up on it. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I'm not sure if insecticidal soap works on mites (since they're not insects) maybe the soap part does?

Insecticidal soap is soap in water; it contains no other insecticide. It does kill mites. Unfortunately these big brown spots represent the damage left behind by the mites. It shouldn't get worse unless the mites aren't dead yet.

Thank you for your help, but since the new growth also has them can I assume that they're not gone? Should I re-treat them with the soap or try something else instead?

It's a scar from the mite damage. It won't go away, but it shouldn't spread unless the mites are still there.
