Oncidium leaf brown spots on repotted orchid
Default Oncidium leaf brown spots on repotted orchid

I repotted root bound oncidium and cut away root rot. I did not see any creatures on plant. Am now getting brown spots on leaves as shown on attached photos. Do I need to RErepot and use some kind of antivirus treatment, or will that just further stress my favorite plant?

It seems to me that oncidium's tend to get little brown spots quite easily. I just ignore them, they never have turned into anything bad.

The thin leaves are very easy to damage, even if you don't realize you did so. It also might have happened during shipping to the store.

Oncidiums are so notorious to get those spots, like wintergirl I just ignore them too. Sometimes I think it maybe the water I use, although they tolerate tap water, but they look much happier as with all the plants do, if I use rainwater.

But rainwater is not a lot here, only this time that we have the effects of El Nino that we are getting good rain that I can try and save some for my plants use.

Do observe if it is spreading, at times, it just stays like that.

Allow the plant to acclimate some more.

I have been using rain only since September and I get these spots, too.

Whatever causes those spots, just don't be too bogged down with it jenni. They are quite resilient
