It is not essential that you remove the leaf though. If it is just mesophyll collapse / sunburn, the leaf will keep functioning and feed the plant.
I would isolate the plant but not cut the leaf. Especially if the yellowed areas are not expanding.

It is one of those cases that it is best to be careful. Yes, this could end up being nothing but, at this point, you just don't know. Obviously, from the title of the thread, you know this. Putting the orchid in another room for a time is a practical step to take until you can determine what is happening with that leaf.
We are all hoping all will be well with your Phal. Good luck!

Thank you guys for your insight and well-wishes.
Yes, this little guy has been removed from my sunroom orchid paradise and imprisoned indefinitely in solitary confinement. I do hope it will show signs of improvement soon.

I would keep it separate for the development and full maturation of a couple of leaves, if possible.

Its a lovely variegated leaf Phalaenopsis. I feel it is a physical damage that you might have scraped it on a surface; maybe an accidental fall or when you were moving it ....otherwise it looks healthy and the shade of green of the leaves is just right = meaning you are giving it proper lighting.
Isolation and observation is a good advice.
I hope it is not a virus. It would be nice to see its blooms....
