Phalaenopsis yellow leaf spots
Default Phalaenopsis yellow leaf spots

Looking of help with diagnosing Phal. I think it's a micro fungal disease. With that said, I'm trying to purchase the proper fungicides. I planned to try Alan Koch of Gold Country Orchids advice, using Thiomyl first. (I don't have Banrot, & planned to substitute with Thiomyl brand). Which Alitte to buy? .. (only place I've found to purchase it at is Amazon) and what would be the right Subdue fungicide?

Thank you in advance for suggestions and advice. This particular orchid is my first one and has been around for 4-5 years. Like one of my kids. Heart broken it's sick right now.

I can't help but as you haven't had anyone respond I've moved this to the Pest & Diseases section and given it a bump in the hope someone else can help.

are the upper leaves still healthy? maybe its just old age on the lower ones.

you could give it a spray with fungicide just in case if it starts looking worse, from what ive read micro fungus are tricky to cure.

might be worth giving it a watering with a bit of Epsom salts in it, might green the leaves up a bit.

The newest leaves have started to show signs of being sick too. Where it's yellowing, now has brown as well. Small 1/8" area in this discoloration is translucent. I've heard of cell colapse, but don't know enough to identify it. About a week ago I transplanted it from a wooden basket where it had overgrown and roots were sticking to it. I disassembled it with great care, but maybe there's some shock happening too. What amount of epsom salts to use? I'm a bit worried I may have it on some others... slow to show.

Thanks for your input!
Kathy

oh dear doesn't sound good, don't think Epsom salts would do any good. does sound like some sort of disease.

checkout this link and see if it looks like any of them :- Orchid Diseases

Yes, it resembles the microfungus images. I'm trying to find the correct subdue product and Aliette to purchase for use on it. I've found numerous versions. Hoping to narrow it down before I buy. Might you know?
Thank you!

i don't know which fungicide would be best sorry.

I have used the bayer rose clear on mine and they still seem ok.

maybe others can chip in on some safe fungicides to use on orchids.

either way I think it would be a good idea to get some soon as it might be harder to save the plant if it gets worse.
