No, they don't look like thrips. They look like knats to me. Maybe the critters we often refer to as fungus knats. I don't think they'll harm the plant.

Ok. Thanks for the reply. I've had some issues this year that might be attributable to thrips. You can see some browning around the edges of the flowers. Also the tiny black dots on the stem might be sucking scars.

Where have you been Tucker? I have been missing pics of your awesome plants.

Thank you for the compliment. I've filled up all the storage space for pictures so I can't upload anymore. I still read many of the posts but I don't make comments much anymore.

That's what Pheli does. I much prefer them in the message but if that's what it takes...

It doesn't make sense to limit pictures, especially someone who is posting the quality of pictures that you are. Orchidboard might as well not allow pictures at all.

No you can put the picture right in here. I have posted many pictures that way. You download it to photobucket, then paste the url from your downloaded picture into the little photo link. To get your picture url from Photobucket, just right click on the picture. Here is one of mine. I used a poor cell phone picture but you get the idea. Not sure if there is a way to make it bigger though. But at least the picture is with the post. I agree Pheli has some beautiful pictures.

No gnats, but other flys, also breakfasting on rotting things in fact molting things eating fungus.

You have something rotting or full of fungus somewhere.
