What if some virus from potatoe or onions that I chopped remained on my hands and somehow transfer on my orchids? kind of thoughts. I know, it sounds crazy. haha
Good to know I am not the only one that worries about vegetables as sources of virus! My kitchen has gotten cleaner since I got hooked on orchids three years ago. I water all my plants in the kitchen, so now after I prepare food, I thoroughly disinfect every surface.

My sister-in-law is a smoker: when she comes to visit, I ask her to wash her hands thoroughly, which she happily does with a big smile on her face. She knows I'm crazy, but she puts up with my quirks without too much complaint.

They say Tobacco Mosaic Virus can come from smokers handling orchids, so I don't think it is unreasonable to ask her to wash her hands.
