Some kind of rot on my Dendrobium spectabile
So I was looking my plants over today and noticed this!
Stuff, Junk, and Things I Like - Shots of my Dendrobium Spectabile, wtf is this?! I...
I assume it's rot of some kind but have no idea. There are no marks anywhere else on the orchid that look like this.
As stated on the post, I was spraying my orchids the past two weeks and then rinsing them off so it might be possible that water got under the casing and started rotting it away...
Hope someone here can diagnose.

I once got something like that on one of my latouria dens, and don't know what caused it, but I pressed ground cinnamon in / on the area, and out didn't progress.

I agree with White Rabbit. I would press a blob of dampened cinnamon power right in that spot.

It looks like the damage from the scale. Spray with horticulture oil ( In use Neem). Really bad damage you may want to toss the plant. I would try the Neems in any case, but also keep the plant isolated, you don't want that to spread.

Under the photo he says he was treating for scale and thinks he got water inside the casing on the cane.

I haven't seen any scale on this plant, but there has been dew of some kind on the tips of some of the leaves. The spraying was more precautionary than anything else since I definitely have scale problems elsewhere.
This is the first time I've seen anything like this and it's the only plant to exhibit these kinds of symptoms.

Scale can cause chlorotic areas on the leaf/psudobulbs turn yellow and then dark areas with leaf drop

Whatever caused it, looks like a rotting spot and I would try the cinnamon. Could be a secondary infection caused by scale. Hope your plant is doing better.
