Maybe a fungal infection? Too cold and damp?

If its outside its can be rain drops which rapidly hit the leaf.

Fungus or virus. Impossible to tell without further tests. Always be careful with cutting tools. If flowers and new leaves look good, you shouldn't worry too much.
