Default Pests or infection?

While most of my plants are content, I have one that I'm not sure about (new phrag.)

Yesterday he developed a ring of yellow on a leaf; I cut it off and sealed it with alcohol+ cinnamon. I didn't want to take chances of it spreading.
Last night I checked him again to see if anything else was going on.. Well I found new areas of wet spots on the leaves. It's on both old and new leaves. I also saw that the cuts that I sealed off, had sap dripping out... (So to me it sounds like a pest problem, but not completely sure.) There were a couple areas that had wet sappy areas on the leaves; they weren't there earlier that day!

I'm not sure what specifically he has, so I don't know what to treat him with.

Sorry for many threads at once!! This time whatever is going on, it's happening pretty fast.

How new is it? Was it just shipped recently in cold weather? Isolate it until you figure it out. Hopefully someone else will chime in.

I got it with the 3 phals, and paph Delenatii last Saturday. **I drove to the greenhouse (this phrag is schlimii x wallisii)

I think I have some sort of pest(s), just not sure which one(s)! I would know if they're typical mealies.
I'm thinking some sort of mite or dare I say, thrips

I have safer's soap, and Bayer's 3-in-1, but I think it's time to get a couple new ones to add into the rotation. Like banrot and such?

**I think I might have had a minor infection ever since I got my first paphs. I just noticed that they have small pitting in the leaves. It is harder for me to see on the paphs with mottled leaves. I think I'm only noticing it now because the population grew, and they seem to LOVE phrags. This phrag is just the most targeted. Might have come with them, or all the pests I had could have moved over to him. I'm just speculating.. My phrags are showing little red dots, pitting, and a couple have black spots on the leaves; most of my plants have been changing slowly enough that most of it went undetected. The new phrag is the only one with the quick symptoms. **

Looks a bit like cold damage, but I might be completely wrong. Good luck in finding a remedy.

That certainly does look like cold damage. Cold can damage plant cells or, if that doesn't happen, it can stress a plant quite badly and make it vulnerable to disease. If there is cell damage, there isn't much you can do but hope that the damage is all in the leaves and that new growth is healthy. If it is an opportune infection, you can usually fight this and win.
I have had plants (including the fruit trees) get hit by cold and lose all the leaves or, in the case of veggies, look terrible but then recover. Good luck!

I'm pretty sure it isn't cold damage. It was 50°F when I got them, and the house stays 60°F+. Without added heat, (I only use additional heating with the phals and vandaceous plants) the house hasn't climbed above 73°F this winter.

Was it close to the window? Maybe it got colder than you think?

I am glad it isn't cold damage. If it is a type of rot, take a cotton ball, dip it in isopropyl alcohol and clean a leaf off. Repeat with the next leaf (new cotton ball). This will kill off any bacteria or spores of fungus that are trying to colonize the leaf. I usually do this for a few days. Good luck!

It looks like cold damage to me too.

If you are seeing little red dots on some of your other ones, do they wipe off? If so they are likely spider mite and need a miticide to kill them off. Other pesticides that don't state that won't work.

I don't think so. I don't keep plants too close to the windows, I mainly use T5HO lights. I would think I had a better chance of burning it or heating it. It's very dry in my house. Sometimes 17-30%.. I water most of my phrags daily or every other day. They love being watered frequently. Even my Caudatum has been growing nicely with frequent waterings; I just don't sit the caudatum and the Meramec Warrior in water. The rest do sit in water.
*just a little growing background, the bigger phrags: Fritz the 2nd, and Mem. Dick Clements are in the dry room, until I get the cover setup. The smaller ones: Caudatum, MW, and Fritz the 1st are in my small setup with higher humidity.

Now he's in the kitchen where I can watch him carefully. Nothing new has popped up. It seems like the damage only happens at night?
